Reasons to Give Every Show Your All

Silent Film Pianist Devereux Geigers wows audiences and reviewers with his debut silent film experiences directed and produced by his wife and business partner Ella McGaunn Geiger

As artists it’s always been our goal to give every performance our all whether it’s performed in front of an audience of thousands or an audience of one. Now that might sound like a hypothetical philosophy, but we mean it quite literally. In fact, every week Devereux Geiger plays 4-5 personalized concerts to an audience of one as a part of our “Patrons of the Arts” program. Devereux gives weekly concerts in the homes of elderly arts lovers who are now homebound. These special concerts for one are always a highlight of Devereux’s week and has helped him hone his ability to transmute joy and passion for music into each and every performance no matter how inconsequential. This summer was a great reminder of why we instill that discipline into all of our students.

This summer we put on our second Live Silent Film Experience at Maynard Fine Arts Theatre with our presentation of two Buster Keaton films: One Week and Sherlock Jr. Little did we know two journalists were in our midst! Will Clark of The Independent of Stowe and Bolton as well as Megan Ray of The Maynard Voice were both kind enough to write lovely articles about our event.
