Some Enchanted Afternoon: The Music of Rodgers and Hammerstein

Rodgers & Hammerstein is the writing duo that brought us classics like The Sound of Music, Oklahoma!, South Pacific, Cinderella, Carousel, and more. Hear the timeless songs of Rodgers & Hammerstein with luscious new arrangements for voice and piano. Ella McGaunn Geiger, whose voice captures the depth and brilliance of Golden Age musical theater, embodies these classic characters and their messages with stunning clarity. Devereux Geiger, accompanist and arranger, works in perfect tandem with Ella to present the catalogue of Rodgers & Hammerstein with a vision for today.

Nosferatu: Silent Movie with Live Piano Scoring

Nosferatu: Silent Movie with Live Piano Scoring

It’s 1922 in Germany and you sit in a dark theater and watch Nosferatu - a black and white film with no sound and no soundtrack, instead a lone pianist or organist is in the theater possibly also watching the film for the first time. The musician creates the world of Nosferatu and sets the mood for the first ever horror movie. The plot seems familiar. Nosferatu was clearly adapted from Dracula - so much so that Bram Stoker’s widow sued the film makers and they were forced to destroy all copies of the film.

Fortunately for us some copies still remain. Join us to see a film you were never supposed to see, the way you were supposed to see it- with original live music!

The music of pianist/improviser Devereux Geiger can be heard on multiple short films as well as the feature length movie “The Clown Affair.” Devereux has been hired throughout New England to compose scenic music for plays and improvise for theaters such as Improv Boston.

The Sound of (Improvised) Music: An interactive improv show for the whole family

Come and experience the magic of watching a new musical come to life before your very eyes! The music director for this show Devereux Geiger was a music director for Improv Boston’s The Family Show (Winner of the Nickelodeon Award for Best Children’s Theater) a show widely considered the “Pixar” of Live Comedy. Solo improviser Ella McGaunn Geiger got her start in improv more than two decades ago when her public library offered a free improv class. She can’t wait to bring this show to the Maynard Public Library. Although content is aimed to be appropriate enough for older kids (7-12) the show is fun for teens and adults too!

Journey with us to the year 1931, inside a production studio in New York City, and join the studio audience of Alonzo Deen Cole's radio adaptation of Frankenstein!

Complete with live sound effects and musical accompaniment, this production will transport you to the era of imagination - the pre-television heyday of radio plays.

Our show takes place in the historic Fine Arts Theatre in Maynard, MA - a beautiful 1940's movie theatre in the center of town.
